A specialty promotion and fulfillment company, this client is an industry-leading provider of marketing programs and the world’s number one processor of customer rebates, with an annual value of more than $2 billion. For more than 35 years, this client has helped companies deliver targeted campaigns that drive business opportunities and enhance brand recognition.
As a worldwide services provider, this client needed to convert one of its applications to multiple currencies. Although an important and comprehensive initiative, this production-oriented project lacked the career and skill-building opportunities sought by in-house staff. To allow current staff to remain focused on cutting-edge initiatives while at the same time reducing costs, the client decided to use an offshore solution for the conversion project.
Hollstadt Consulting, one of the client’s valued staffing providers, was selected to facilitate this key project. The company assigned a senior program manager to work with its offshore partner in the Philippines and develop a cost-effective offshoring strategy for the project.
Under Hollstadt’s direction, a project manager from the Philippines was brought to the client’s site to serve as the intermediary between the offshore and onshore teams throughout the project.
Working half-days with the client’s team and half-days with the offshore team, the project lead helped bridge the time difference between the U.S. and offshore companies, served as translator for the clients, and fostered closer relationships among the entire team.
Not only was the conversion project brought in on time and on budget, the savings over a conventional approach were approximately 30 percent. These results were accomplished by having a small, highly skilled onshore project team, headed by a project manager who worked closely with key business stakeholders and the offshore team to manage and monitor the conversion process.
